When this field is checked the answer the respondent gave will be hidden to the interviewer if the question is revisited. Questions are revisited either by going back to the previous question or going back multiple questions and then moving forward again, revisiting the question(s).

Use of Hide Answer

Some responses are confidential and the interviewer has no need to see or hear the respondent's answer. In self-administered portions of a survey, the respondent enters the answer on the computer him- or herself. These questions might involve drug use, criminal activity, or similar highly personal matters.
